About the Pangea Network/Site
FAQs and Contact Information

This page serves to answer all your questions about the Pangea Network/Site, in a FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) format. We all know that nobody really asks these questions and that the webmasters of websites usually make them up - assuming that their visitors can be herded like sheep into predetermined queries. That's unfortunate, but will be the case yet again here. Besides, it's quite entertaining to guess what people might ask you...

Q: What's the difference between Pangea's Site and the Pangea Network?

A: Pangea's Site is the actual site name, while the Pangea Network is simply a concept describing the spread of Pangea's Site across different servers and providers. Think about it - how many different free hosting servers have you been directed to during your visit here? If you search carefully, you'll see that this site has content on Yahoo! Geocities, Tripod, MSN Groups, Brinkster, and Xanga. [We're not even counting where our various features such as the guestbook come from!] This distribution of content allows the manager(s) of this site to maximize resources on a minimal budget, and is dubbed the Pangea Network for its vast coverage.

The Network also can be paralleled with a webring, in that new web properties can be easily acquired and linked. This expands the Network to include more content for its users, making it [in the words of MSN] "more useful everyday."

Q: So what's with Simon's Sayings? Your MSN Group is named "Simon's Sayings" - shouldn't it be called "Pangea's Extension" or something?

A: Our MSN Group was actually the founding point of the entire Pangea concept. Before the idea of a "Pangea Site" came about, there was only Simon's Sayings, and it was hosted on MSN Communities [yeah, they changed names]. Eventually, membership fever took over and the website changed course to become something that would provide general content for the masses, and Simon's Sayings faded into the background. With the release of Pangea 3.0, the webmaster decided to shy away from the public and focus more on the Sayings, the real heart of the site. Hence, Simon's Sayings Advanced was born.

Q: Okay, Simon's Sayings and Simon's Sayings Advanced... so what is Simon's Sayings Extended?

A: Think about it - Advanced signifies a new stage, while Extended signifies ongoing action. Advanced is just like the Originals except at a different point in time. Extended is content that goes on and on indefinitely. If you are still confused... it's a weblog.

Q: Couldn't you think of a better name than "Pangea's Site"?

A: No. We understand that the name means very little, and is quite corny. That is just the product of our low-level naming skills, and cannot possibly be remedied anytime soon. This is partially the reason why the term "The Pangea Network" was introduced - it sounded slightly better.

Q: Why do I feel that your site seems influenced by MSN?

A: Because it is. The webmaster loves any and all things remotely related to MSN's network, and takes its designer as his idol. Just look at the great pains he took to install a tab system like the one on the MSN.com...

Q: What is your "minimal budget" anyway?

A: A grand total of $0.00. We are broke. Pangea's Site runs entirely on free services and servers, and no money whatsoever is paid for its keep. The only investment in this site is time - which is plenty as far as the webmaster is concerned.

Interestingly enough, we do not ask for donations through PayPal nor engage in any other desperate funding measures. This is the ultimate free personal yet public site.

Q: I'm really angry about something I read on this site. In fact, I'm so angry that I wish to pile curse upon curse in your guestbook. What should I do with my deranged self?

A: Well, we do warn our visitors [in the Group Site anyway] that this is a site for "mature audiences only." Not to say that there is anything truly horrendous here - we just prefer to deal with people that can control themselves. Yes, some things on this site are controversial and can cause heated debate. Such debate is usually funneled to the Bulletin Boards, so if you find yourself posting hate messages anywhere else, you should stop yourself. Not only are you abusing our system, but you will be extremely sorry once the management finds out [and we always do...]. If you post flames on the guestbook, they will be edited so you look like an idiot. If you go nuts on our Bulletin Boards, you may be banned from using them. And if you go so far as to do something in the physical world ["reality" outside of the Internet]... well, who's to say there won't be malicious revenge, hrm?

Records of your activities are kept everywhere. Don't be stupid enough to overreact to something you read.

Q: Sometimes you use "Pangea's Site" in your publications, and sometimes you use "The Pangea Network". Also, sometimes you refer to the "Webmaster" of the site, and sometimes you refer to "Simon". What is with this double-naming? [I am also aware that Simon is the Webmaster, and he's the one writing all the publications... so why is he writing in third-person?!]

A: Simon [erhm...I mean I] do this because I don't know what the heck I'm doing. Many people have accused this site of being extremely "fake", and I agree. From looking at my publications, one would think that Pangea is some high-and-mighty corporation with wonderful office correspondence skills... but no. I just like doing things this way, and if people have a problem with my over-maturity, you can refer to the question above.

Q: I need to have a little *chat* with Simon [I mean you] about his [I mean your] writings... How do I do this?

A: Umm... okay. Here's all you'll need to know:
